What a Wonderful Anniversary!!!
This past weekend my husband and I spent three glorious days together, without the cellphone constantly ringing, without instant messaging, without faxes to answer and without the internet. It was a weekend where we concentrated on each other without distractions and without..... Rufus. Although we thoroughly missed having Little Rufus around, we needed some "grown-up" time alone so Rufus spent time with our cousins and with my best friend...hanging out and enjoying life without Mommy and Daddy around.
We most definitely needed quality time to spend with one another to continue to edify the wonderful union that took place 5 years ago on June 30, 2002. June 30th signals not only our anniversary but also the anniversary of Rhadi's parents, whose marital union took place 34 years ago on June 30, 1973. We were all gearing up for the anniversary weekend with expectancy, determination and love as I ran around late Friday afternoon getting the final preparations together.
As Rhadi can attest, being married is more than just planning a wedding or a honeymoon, it's more than living under the same roof as someone else, it's about sharing your deepest hopes and dreams with someone else who wants the very best for you, who'll sacrifice for and with you and who'll constantly put the needs of the family before his or her own personal needs.
It takes alot of maturity and hardwork to get to a point in your life when you're not constantly focused on your own personal wishes but continually seek to build up and better your family as a whole....even if that means that you (temporarily) will take a backseat.
I never thought that I could love someone so totally and so fully as I love Rhadi. Because I spend alot of my time with work and all that it entails to run a physician practice, I had to put that much energy and then some in to creating a romantic getaway fit for a king....The Strength and Conditioning King.
That meant my best friend and I had to take a look at the room several days before the big day and to my surprise...she along with the concierge staff at the resort decorated the room beautifully....here are some of the pictures of the room..

With fresh strawberries.....whipped cream and a dozen roses to set the mood for a romantic weekend!
We had an awesome time this past weekend celebrating our anniversary. And Rhadi gave me the best gift ever....himself.....his mind, his body and his spirit.
So to all of you who are celebrating your anniversaries during these summer months....Congratulations!
Take care,
Traci, better known as Rufus' mom
